Originally built in 1925 as a luxury apartment block and run on the lines of a private club, the building
became a hostel for air crews on leave during the war. In 1971, it
was bought by Rank Hotels and underwent a two year refurbishment
before re-opening.The property was purchased from Rank Hotels by Ralph Trustees Ltd, in September
1992 and underwent a £10 million refurbishment programme, completed
in September 1994.The Hotel and Apartments are owned by Ralph Trustees Ltd, a private company
controlled by two brothers.Ralph
Trustees Ltd, also owns the highly successful Runnymede Hotel & Spa
near Windsor, and serviced apartments at 23 Greengarden House in St
Christopher's Place, near London's Bond Street.<br>
The new Health & Fitness Spa is one of the most impressive facilities
of its kind in any London Hotel, and is open for the exclusive and
complimentary use of guests. Facilities include a 12 piece gym, jacuzzi, showers and marble steam room, sauna
with relaxation area and a beauty treatment room. Direct lift access
is provided from all guest floors. A jogging route map and track suits are available to guests free of charge. The
Restaurant's light, magnificent design, featuring a conservatory roof
and a Jerusalem stone floor bordered in antique mosaics, helps create
a wonderful atmosphere. Award winning chef, David Marshall has created
